This paper discusses the possibilities and problems of distance learning. Distance technologies can be a good environment that encourages students to explore and think about their knowledge. Programs based on distance learning can expand students' access to higher education, while open and distance programs can be difficult to use in science labs, they have real potential to make the most of technology.
According to scientific research, within the framework of the project on the topic "Scientific and methodological foundations of the organization of the educational process in conditions of distance learning at the Research University of Agrarian Profile", a study of distance learning methods is being carried out, as well as an analysis of world experience in the implementation of information technologies in higher educational institutions of Kazakhstan and foreign countries in the agrarian direction.
